Hi all im new to this forum and thought you lot maybe able to help me...
I recently bought a 2002 ml270cdi luxury, the car is in very good condition with fsh. The problem i have got is when accelerating there doesn't seem to be hardly any power, now it has been to the dealers under an extended warranty and they said it was the inlet manifold that was at fault, so this was changed by them, the car ran fine but a week later the problem came back. It went back to the dealer who said a vacum hose had come loose, this was refited and ran fine again for a week but now the problem is back and it has hardly any power again! It goes back into the dealers on thursday to be looked at again. I was following my wife the other day and you could tell when she was putting her foot down as loads of black smoke was coming out the exhaust each time she accelerated. Has anyone else had similar problems? Could it be a fault with the turbo? Sorry for the long post!

There are many things that could cause your problem, these cars are known to suffer from a blocked primary catalytic converter, you could mention this to the garage for them to investigate, otherwise, you really need proper diagnosis from a MB dealer who has the necessary equipment........is it a MB dealer or an independent garage?

Hi, it wasn't bought from a mb dealer but all the warranty work is being done at the local mb dealer. I will mention this to them about the exhaust, but if this was the fault why would it be ok for a week at a time? I honestly didn't expect it to be faulty a 3rd time as you say they have all the necessary equipment to test the cars.

Hi,
I agree, it's unlikely to be the cat causing such an intemittent problem.

It's good for you that an MB dealer is sorting out the problem, there really are so many reasons that could cause your problem that it is best to let them get on with it since it's not going to cost you anything and they will eventually get it sorted..

Please let us know what the problem was once they've sorted it.

Ok thanks. I will post on here after it returns from the dealers, hopefully running as good as before!
