My radiator on the Ml had had a slight weep for some months now, nothing serious but as with all things it will need attention soon.
My question is how easy is this to do as a DIY job, the Ml has other smaller radiators attached and I was thinking of building a jig to support these whilst removing the main radiator, is it a simple job or one best left to an indi.

Regards

Mark

not too hard a job, but whether being left to an indie, cant answer that as dont know your skill or patience level.
if you attempting give yourself a morning or afternoon and allow for lots of mess spillage.

if you have a good selection of tools give it a go.

or try something called K Seal. about a tenner, worth a try. use K Seal though. best ive ever used for stopping leaks.,

used on many customer cars who were a bit financially short, at their request.
works a treat if the leak is not severe.

Hi Malcolm, MB Tec,

Thanks for the reply.
The leak is only minor, but I hate things like this because they usually get much worse just when you dont want them to.
As for using a sealer, is this ok in a merc engine, I read somewhere that it was not advisable due to blocking small water passages.
MB Tech any idea on cost for an indi to replace.
The leak is in the lower left corner when looking at the front of the car, I did have it checked by Merx in Stoke last year and they said it was nothing to worry about yet.
Malcom would very much appriciat if you could send me the job sheet please, can I get away with removing the radiator without disturbing any of the other smaller ones or do the lot have to come out.
I dont mind the mess or the time have all day

Regards

Mark

If this job can be done without disconnecting the Air con, then I will print off, otherwise I will let you know

we have used K seal on quite a few customers cars, had no problems at all, and leaks ceased,
we are back in on monday, if you pm me your reg i can give you a supplied and fitted price for the job, alternatively, get your rad repaired if its on the plastic which can crack then prob better to replace, but if its the core a repair is very cosat effective.

if it was my car id try the K Seal option first though.

think it can, remove top panel then pretty straight forward if i remember right,
obviously gearbox pipes and pas pipes require removal.
that much stuff in my brain with mercs its hard to explain, when confronted with such car 5 secs of looking and i know exactly what is required to be removed.
