Has anyone had the problem of their key getting stuck in the ignition? I have tried everything to remove it, but it is frequently getting stuck so that I am unable to drive it since I can't park and leave the key in the ignition.

Please help me out if you've had this problem! I don't know what to do! Everytime I go to the dealership they say they've fixed it only to have it reoccur a week or so later. It is not the steering mechanism locking, it seems to be completely unrelated.

Thank you in advance for your help!

also consider that the ign key cannot be removed when not in park - so may be related to the gearshift system....

not much help - but a possible pointer....

The lock cylinder can be easily removed (start with the key out), to check if the key is a bad fit. But beware, if you get it completely stuck, it will cost a new lock (requiring old one to be cut off) and loads of hassle and cost. So, get it checked before it's too late.

I had that problem and it also affected my remote alarm system.

When I first noticed the problem, I had difficulty removing the key but could still do it with a bit of a struggle. But My remote fob also went faulty.

After a few weeks removing the key got more difficult and my remote fobs did not work.

It turned out there was something wrong with the ignition / steering lock mechanism. Becuase it was faulty, everytime I managed to remove the key, the sensors thinks the key is still in. Therefore not allowing the alarm remote fobs to work either.

It was fixed for £300 (parts and labour) (they also replaced the ignition tumbler for "free") Luckily the £300 was paid for by the used dealer I bought it from!!!
