my ml 430 has various faults
gearchange between 2nd and 3rd revs high
lumpy idle sometimes
and i noticed a yellow gunge under my oil cap
which made me think if head gasket but its not using any water
and oil is clean too
please help!!!

Well I am doing what I can as you know

also i had new spark plugs fitted which helped for a while
and i had transmission fluid and filter replaced.
losing the will with this car

The yellow gunge could be caused by condensation in the rocker cover due to short journeys and not allowing the engine to reach normal temp. A good long run will usually clear this up.

Lumpy idle. Coils or plug leads. Maybe air mass sensor.

The gearbox problem sounds like either its knackered or the oil level is low.

Clean the yellow gunge and see how long it takes to reappear.
