ML55 gearbox

The ML won't start now and it says it's in "R" on the dash when it is in "P".The stick won't come out of P and the car thinks it's in reverse so won't start.

Have you replaced brake light switch as Quoted from previous post.
"You need a new brake light switch. This is very common."
Can’t really help apart from when I got my ML 270 Y reg, mine did this but it was my fault because I was not pressing brake pedal when operating gear leaver
