Moanin/Whining sound when reversing

I have an X reg A Class and it has developed a loud whining/moaning sound coming from the engine when I am reversing. Any ideas??

Wahey!!!!

Do you know if it takes a specific transmission fluid if so, isnt this a sealed unit????

Like the wife comments but the sound is coming from the engine not the boot!!

also look at fan belt is not loose

is it auto or manual

This may be a sign of problems for the future.

They do tend to whine a little if it is an auto. It is best to check the atf level though if it is an auto and you need a special dipstick for that.
