I have a E320 Cdi 2003 with the wired in phone in the armrest. You know the type the one with the curly cable!

I want to change the phone have tried nokia cark 91 converter but doesn't fit. Don't want to spend £400 or whatever having new kit fitted. need to be able to install 6230i where 6310i is currently.

The only other alternative is to leave 6310i in car and use second mobile but would have to keeping swapping SIM as I don't want two numbers.

Anybody got any solutions?

You can divert the 6230i number to the 6310i when in the car

I have the same problem with a 6210 car kit and MB wanted £600 to change it to a 6310i.

I use a bluetooth headset on my main phone but make outgoing calls using a payg 6210 in the car

The best the dealer could offer me when I was looking at a 320 with a 6210i kit, was to supply me with a phone, so I suspect there is little you can do with the existing kit without complete replacement. Had I bought the car, I considered just abandoning the kit altogether and fitting a bluetooth handsfree setup such as the Nokia CK7W which leaves me free to use whatever phone I want. I have one in the Jeep and its fine.
I have also come across this

which may be a way forward.

Thanks for the answers. I really do not want two phones but it appears I might have to go that way. I wonder if there is any converter from 6310i to 6230i it would seem a simple thing

If you read the previous thread to yours, Parrot of Doom has posted a site which offers a lead which converts the "older" type Nokia, to the newer types - means you will have a bit more string in the armrest!

Thanks for that Dogsbody. I cannot find the thread to which you refer. Parrot of Doom talks of a website called mobilefun but that cable is designed for the Nokia Cark91 cradle not the MB one
