Has anyone had mobile body work repair done? If so, is it decent enough rather than having to go down the body shop route? What is there to be wary of to tell between someone doing a good/bad job etc?

I’ve leant my other C70 out and some idiot has kindly caught the rear arch leaving a white mark, doesn’t look dented but I’ll have a closer look tomorrow but was hoping that a mobile repair (if good enough quality) would be a viable option.

mobile reapair or body shop is irrelevant per se, as its the skill of the craftsman that determines good or bad work.

Perhaps google mobile/smart repairers in your area and check out the reviews.

Even mercedes use them now and provide quotes for the works at service time. So I cant imagine them being shoddy.

I've had a mobile dent guy to my last two cars. Brilliant job as even having known where the dings were it takes a lot of bending down getting the light angle right to even see a hint of locations which were previously glaringly obvious dents. But I did use a guy known locally to my neighbours as a great guy.

Having said that if you don't see a dent and the white one would assume has transferred from another object it is likely you could make a perfect job with T-Cut or compound yourself.

Great stuff!

I used a mobile pointless dent chap some years ago and that was good but never had to look at paintwork on a car until now.

Some years ago my bmw was side swiped during a school run down the entire side, looked horrific but I gave a mild compound and machine polish a crack and it came up spot on.

The only reason for looking for someone to do it now is that for the next few months my free time is pretty limited.

The next few months the atmospheric conditions may not be suitable.

So right its not paint weather to do this sort of work outside but these guys know how to warm it up and dry off the new paint after its done ..best to take it in to a reputable paint shop let them do the job in a warm shop once it repaired and sealed it will need to harden off . .And 24 hours will be as hard as the other paint on the car .

Best body shop if you go that route is Alan Perry, used to be on Huntington street now moved to an industrial unit in Colwick, I have used them forever, they recentrly replaced the rear arches on my W220

Obviously do what feels right for your situation but were the mark dent free and just soft paint from a post or similar it would be no more than a five minute job with T-cut or compound and two dusters... a lot quicker than the faff of dropping off and collecting from a bodyshop and probably less stress than trying to get a guy to trust.

If it's just a paint mark and not dented get some farecla and gently polish the mark out.

The damage has reduced with just a wash (finally found a couple of hours to give the fleet a quick wash). So next weekend I’ve put some time aside to give the remainder a blast with compound and machine and see what remains after that, it will still need some paint by the looks of it but hopefully a lot smaller that what it was.
