If its not pre-wired, forget it. If it is, its unlikely that it will work with your phone if you have a vaguely modern one. (Nokia 6310i anyone?)
I believe that the pre-wired ones have a split armrest lid and if someone went to the expense of a pre-wire, I'd expect to find a cradle in there.
Failing that, a decent fitted bluetooth kit as a far more sensible option, but it won't work with the display / buttons I'm afraid.

That's just the very question I wanted to ask about too. Oh well now let me go and think of something else to ask

Thank JBerks,
I have the split arm rest but no phone cradle and i can't see any cable. I know i can buy the cradle on ebay, if i can only find out if it is pre-wired, i won't mind buying all the bits that it needs

Sounds like you may be in luck then. As far as I know, only pre-wired cars have split arm rests. I believe there is a plug in the arm rest, possibly behind a blanking cover plate, for you to plug a cradle into. I haven't got pre-wire so I'm a bit vague on this I'm afraid.

When you say split armrest lid do you mean split horizontally or vertically? Our armrest has two compartments but I have no idea what that means.

The split lids are in 2 pieces hinged at the sides. The normal ones are a single piece hinged at the back. I presume the idea with the split ones is that someone in the back can get to the handset, whereas with the rear hinged ones, the lid would be in the way.
