Hi
Has anyone had any experience in having a mobility passenger seat fitted to the newer models from M/B
I have a B class and have been told by a mobility seat manufacturer that they cannot supply a seat due to the fact that the newer Mercedes have an occupancy sensor which is somehow tied up with the airbag warning system.
My seats are the heated sports seats ( which I think are not suitable for the child seats which disable the airbag) so the airbag should be permanently working but M/B tell me that the the airbag fault indicator would remain alight.
I presume that the cables running under the seat with the yellow & black connectors are seat belt undone warning light & heated seat.
Does anyone know what the big red connector (that is fitted under the seat runner) is for.
Also I thought I read somewhere that it is a feature of the car to be able to remove the front seat (presumably for extra load capacity) how is the seat removed & does the airbag sensor come on then.
Any info on any of the above topics would be gratefully received as the car is virtually brand new and I dont want to have to change it if I can get a mobility seat fitted.
Reason for needing the mobility seat is that my wife has recently broken her hip and she may not be able to stand or walk again. The mobility seats are like the normal seat but they also swivel sideways to make it easier for a disabled person to get into the car. Fitting the seat would require removal of the old seat & its runners & the mobility seat bolted to the 4 seat fixing bolts on the floor via a sub-frame. I have at present an ELAP seat that I would like to use.
