Can't tell you for your model, but I do know on my W210 that its a doddle to install one.
The 'brains' is installed at the front of the passenger footwell, which is dead simple to access and has loads of space. The wiring just takes a feed from the back of the radio, possibly the most difficult bit will be fitting the bit of plastic trim that holds the phone cradle in place.
BTW I wouldn't recommend a bluetooth handsfree, they sound awful to anyone calling you on the move.
The Merc kit is not really an option - not sure if you can even get it after market and its very expensive.
I can recommend the Nokia kit (CK7W). This has bluetooth which I have had no problem with, even at speed, and the option of an additional cradle if you want one provided you have a nokia phone. I have one in the jeep and its fine. Works with both phones over bluetooth and has a cradle for the wife's phone of the week. There is also a kit on the market called a 'parrot' (Its french) which appears pretty good and has displays, memories etc.
The Nokia kit is around £60-70 online and easily fitted if you are fairly competent with a screwdriver, though you will need to get to the back of the stereo to connect up the mute. If you don't have a cradle, then there is just one small button visible so its very neat. Failing that, fitters will put one in for around £200 - £250 all in. If you do want a cradle, you can get either MB (£100 ish) or after market mounts that blend into the dash and make it look like its always been there.
