Some moron yoof films himself at 160mph on the M61 in his A35. Then the moron posts it on FaceLess. Car confiscated in Bacup, presumably where he kept his 2 brain cells.

Does the perpetrator lose out tota££y in UK when it says their car was confiscated? I remember when I was working over in in Holland and heard about a guy had a Testorossa confiscated for doing 250 Kph - but apparently he bought it back in the state auction which was by invitation only - effectively it cost him about £300 and inconvenience - so it was only sort of confiscated...

It seems to vary in the UK as to whether confiscation is permanent.

It would likely be a 'Section 59' confiscation - basically allows the Police to seize a vehicle for all sorts of driving reasons. It's often used for anti-social driving and it's a bit of a controversial law, as the Police decide for themselves, there's no Court process involved. You can get the car back by paying the removal and storage fee.

Of course in the case in this thread there will still be a prosecution of the alleged driving offence itself, but seizing the vehicle isn't an option as part of the penalty for the offence.

Just had to Google the AMG A35 ..... I was thinking Austin A35! :D:D

Back in the day, my brother and I ran a Shorrocks supercharged A35 - Austin variety - and we had incredible fun with it, but we never achieved 160mph!
No steering, no brakes, and no suspension! A frightening grey bullet.

For this moron they should throw his license away AND crush his car- then make him pay to remove it!

I seem to remember that the Police have been known to adopted confiscated high performance cars and used them on their own fleet for their high speed ops. :)

Was very common for cars seized from (dis)organised crime - drugs especially

Be a good idea if they ran a raffle so it could go to someone properly deserving (like me )!

They run them through police auctions as well.
They're confiscated under proceeds of crime legislation so not sure they can use that in this case.

Even so, if it inconvenienced the idiot it's fine by me.

A bit too fast for me Dave, that would bring out the worst in me, perhaps if I was a younger man
