Thanks in advance

Sounds odd, especially if it wasn't mentioned on the previous mot, I would want to see it for myself or at least get a second opinion.

It does sound strange that a rear subframe has rotted out so bad in one year when it had not been flagged up the year before? So was the previous MOT legit?? Makes you wonder eh? Id go back to dealer and if they not interested then off to trading standards who be interested alongside D.O.T standards who would hopefully look into history of vehicle as you had been driving around in a sub safe car , not good

Getting quite common unfortunately… some have had the subframe replaced by Mercedes - have a search on the forum

It’s tough to pin it on the dealer for 12 months ago , the MOT test is for the car on that day at that time . The subframes also rot from the inside .
If it was an MB main dealer , they have MOT protection for a year

True but really the W212 is not a really old car and should the subframe rot out so quickly? Id have a independent inspection done to find out excactly what is going on with it as something does not sit right with it , considering there are older cars out there without this issue? Mine is 20 years old next Jan and its all good and solid underneath...

I have a 2011 212 which I bought 6 months old ex demonstrator from MB.
I had it MOT’ed last month had a good look underneath while it was up on the hoist, looked very clean.

Subframe rot is something some Mercedes suffer from… they rot from the inside so not picked up on MOT and generally not noticeable until they fail… have a search on the forum quite common unfortunately

In the 70’s I was in the army in Germany I had two Renault 16’s both great cars. I was offered a 3 month old Renault 20 by a friend who was promoted & posted unexpectedly, I bought the car for a song. Six years later the body was rusting in numerous places, never involved in an accident garaged every night. I had the rust sorted & sold it quickly. I friend of mine had the same car same year of manufacture, kept it 10 years no rust. In fact I never saw another Renault 20 with a fraction of the rust mine had.

It does seem that the early 212’s and 204 are suffering with this, as has been pointed out if you can get it looked at my Mercedes there may be an option for replacement under warranty but you’ll need to go armed with knowledge on how it’s rotted from the inside out

Surely you're not implying that there are dealers in Lancashire who are less than honest?:D
