mot SHOCK horror

had my 210 in for mot today ?
the first time ever they have abandond a test on me !!!! the cause
1) broken shock
2)broken spring
3)top shock mounts in dangerous cond
not a happy bunny but i suppose these things happen :-(

from what I have read, most of the springs tend to break near the base so it doesnt affect the ride height

Good luck get a can of Waxoil and coat everything under the car, and as you change the bits

mine looked like it was just the bottom coil till i pulled it out to find the top had gone aswell still i was needing to do my wishbone bushes

hi ebony266, do you refer to the front shocks or the rear ? also what do you mean by the shock mounts as on my 97 e300 est. the front shocks are fastened to the inner wing bodywork, my rear shocks are the hydo. spheres with rams and self levelling system, replacement of the latter has just cost me £800. i also had one of the front coil spring cups replaced due to corrosion caused by underseal failure leading to excessive corrosion. another £200. i agree with malcolm, re "waxoil" mine is soaked in it. herbiemercman.

she passed with just the work needed as previous post . all better now .cost not to bad the welder was a bit cheeky £130 to remove and weld new top mounts in ? anyway she,s back on the road thanks guys
