Struck lucky with the second car I viewed in 48hrs. After the debacle that was the car in Leeds, I found a really nice example closer to home in Swindon.

Only got one photo taken from the dealers website before he removed the advert. And it seems the photo cannot be displayed here due to security added by dealership.

Drove really nicely on the 15 minute trip back from the rail station to the premises. Not quite as underwhelming as I expected Possibly the nicest dealership I've ever seen. House valued a £1.5m. The owner took 2 calls enquiring about the car whilst I was doing the paperwork. Didn't get much knocked off the asking price due to the fact I know someone else would have bought it that day. He had 2 other bookings to view the car.
It's not particularly high spec, half leather, factory tints, Audio20 with CD. It seems I can't connect my Samsung Galaxy A5 to bluetooth in the car yet I deleted a Galaxy J model from the memory. Something to look into. Only fault raised is the light switch inside the car is stuck on Auto and the lights are on all the time. A new switch has been ordered and being posted to me when it arrives.

Poured with rain on the way back so its filthy. Pics will be posted when I've had a chance to clean it. But very pleased. 33mpg on the way back something I haven't seen in 9 years of owning AMG's. Didn't want Obsidian black again, but I got one. The car was too nice to walk away from. Immaculate bodywork, freshly resprayed front bumper to repair the inevitable stone chips, Full main dealer history apart from two unknowns. Also had an oil/filter service last week and two ARB drop links fitted.

I'll visit my dealer this week and try and get printouts for the work carried out at all the main dealer services. It will nice to see if the ATF and brake fluid has been done at all.

That era of W/S204 seem to all be Obsidian black. All of my MB's from the 190E in 1973 to my previous W204 have been Obsidian. It was a lengthy search for my current Brilliant Blue, six months in all, but I am glad I waited.

Like you say the C180 isn't that much of a slouch, I didn't find mine too bad at all but then I'm not in any particular hurry

Hope the car turns out to be the way you would want it :)

Who said I hoped for the best? You are reading things I never said!

Main dealer service history would assume everything done to spec.

As for half leather, OK wise guy, part fake leather part cloth. Happy now.

You really are an tool at times.
Do me a favour and stay away from my threads.

Best have a go at all these members then.

Change your forum name to Mr Pedantic. It suits.

The trouble is my background , my training , my career.

Too much missinformation , guesswork , forum bandwagon .

When I quote my own ATF , I know what colour it is , how many L is used with torque converter fluid change , what Mercedes specification number it is , who Co developed the actual ATF and who is the likely OEM Genuine Mercedes supplier is !

Meanwhile.....

Glad you're sorted for an interim set of wheels Roger.
Enjoy a more relaxed drive and perhaps mpg into the forties ;)

Likely much less hassle than 55 nice to have had one also nice not to have the bills that can go with it. Less tech, less hassle less expense.

Glad you’re enjoying the new car Roger, certainly different to the last two but the 213 will come soon enough I’m sure

Thanks for nice comments :)
Mileage on this one is 129k, highest I've ever had.
Managed to pair my Samsung A5 phone and transfer all the contacts to the car memory via vcard & bluetooth. Worked out how to do it in the end.

A few pics. Not many of the interior, Most know what a 204 looks like inside.
This one comes with AMG mats. Can I put an AMG badge on it? Just asking;) 20220906_095315.jpg 20220906_095459.jpg s-l800 (2).jpg 20220906_105309.jpg 20220906_105344.jpg 20220906_105401.jpg 20220906_105413.jpg 20220906_105428.jpg 20220906_105437.jpg 20220906_124803.jpg

That was under £5k!

It's got a few miles but the wheels (18s?) look fresh as does both the outside and inside.
FSH as well...

Toys aside, that looks a very nice 'interim'.

Remap worth looking at?
Torque boost on those was always notable, albeit you did say you'd hesitate now, though it would only be a mild one on that engine.....
A side question, should you remap a (relatively) high miler?

It's on 17's Jon. Yes, under £5k and although not the colour I wanted it was in too good condition to pass.

I'm staying away from re maps now. Makes the car much harder to sell when the time comes.
And the M271 engine is far from great anyway.
Any decent re-mapper would check the engine thoroughly before applying any map. I wouldn't map a 120k+ mile engine, especially this one with it's known issues.

Start with checking the electrical connection to the two front cam magnets for oil first . If there is any it may have made its way to the main engine electrical connections and down to the O2 sensor (expensive overall fix ! ) . If they aren’t leaking fit the wire blockers for future safety.
Consider a cam chain change at that mileage if no previous record of one ?
Change the Supercharger oil (it’s not an MB service item )
Rear diff oil change
ATF as you mentioned .
There is no point mapping the M271 (as you said it’s already ruled out )

In my C Class you can turn the lights on & off in the dash menu. Yours might be more sophisticated.
Nice looking car.
