i was just told by my local mb dealership that mb do no longer mud flaps for their motors and will not fit aftermarket ones i think they are missing something here as i always had fitted to my cars as everyone knows they protect the sides of the car what do you think

if they are discreet they are ok, and i agree if it stops the side getting splashed i would fit them but as for finding them for my cls sb...

I was looking for the same! I agree they can be advantageous. The w221 makes a right ****** mess of the paintwork and needs flaps!

My old Volvos had them as standard on the front and were very subtle but effective.

Probably something to do with aerodynamics my S212 has sculpted oversills I assume they lower the drag co-efficient and aren’t there purely for looks. Now that 225 section tyres are the norm and a lot of MBs are equipped with 245/275ish section tyres the sides do get blasted - my view is use more polish funnily enough my S212 doesn’t pick up a lot of road grime on the sides of the car it’s the cleanest car I’ve owned in that sense my son‘s W213 pick’s up everything on the road it vacuums the grime up

Sold - 2021 CLA 35 Premium.
I dont mind about the side of my car being splashed, but mudflaps definitely stop the painted section of the side skirt/sill that curves round into the wheel arch from being damaged.
My previous CLA got damaged in this area despite only covering a total of 5,500 miles from new when I traded it in, and my new CLA has paint chips in this area first noticed around 300 miles from new. o_O
I have fitted PPF to this area to stop any future damage.
If small and discreet mudflaps were available for my model then I would seriously consider fitting them.

The cls has wide tyres and the sides are highly reasonable in adverse conditions but the w221 seems to find all the sh!t even on dry roads. I spend last week looking for flaps but can’t see anything that’s compatible with the amg kit fitted.

At work I have to drive across a yard each day through a huge puddle by a machine jet wash, it drives me mad cos although I drive slowly the 285 tyres throw sh!te up the side of my CLS shooting brake so some “small mud flaps” would be great but obviously not available?

I've had a couple of Saabs in my time and was always confused about the rear mud flaps (?) that were in front of the rear wheels!?

I have always been keen on mudflaps. Merc originals have always been a rock solid fit and a tug of them would pull the wing off.

Still have them on my W220 (original MB part) and purchased a set for my W251 (identical copies to original) from China.

I like them as the reduce spray and keep the sides of the car clean.

They are usually not listed as an option but found in various accessories catalogues.
