As an aside I've kept away from mudflaps as previous experience with my old Ford showed they were nothing more than water traps that ended up rotting the wings to which they were fixed! I'd like to hope MB's fared better but depending when the car was made I'm not so sure.

Hi all, what is peoples opinion on mudflaps on a W211 E class? Do they spoil the lines or appearance. I do 20,000 or so a year and will probably keep the car for 4-5 years. I want weigh off appearance against body work protection.

You do have the Nano paint, and interestingly you cannot fit them to AMG bodied cars

Hi Malcolm, I'm afraid I am going to show my ingnorance here, Nano paint?? Just Googled it, so the paint is more scratch resistant than on my c Class negating the requirement for mudflaps?
Took some photos of the car in the Lake District so will posts a few when I get time to download them!

You can fit them but they won't improve the fuel economy or top speed for that matter. I do notice that the front wheels being so wide do throw quite a lot of carp up the side however I wouldn't wish to compromise my top speed (fuel economy )

Did Sunshinelady find mudflaps? Try a PM to Ian B Walker - I bought genuine MB mudflaps for my W203 estate from him a few months back, he had more available, price was very acceptable!!

A cautionary tale

I used to have mud-flaps when I drove SAABs and Peugeots.

Take care when reversing - it is too easy to reverse up to a kerb and catch the rear mud flap between the kerb and the tyre, ripping the flap off. :Oops:

Not too expensive, and easy to replace (means removing wheel), but jolly irritating!
