We have about 100,000 miles on our 94 E420. Other than the regular oil changes and the minor maintenance work on the vehicle, I have never work on my car before. The dealer wants to chage $180 to put in a new multi rib belt on the car. Can someone tell me if this is a very complex job that I should let the pros to do it?

Are there any DIY articles on how to replace a fan belt on a Mercedes?

Hi

The problem here is not so much the complexity of the job. But more if the job does not quite go the way it should. The main proble being if the belt tenisioner starts to play up. You can spend another half hour playing with it before you realise its not doing what it should. If the dealer is to too expensive find a specialist in your area with the relevant skills. Or indeed try your self. If your lucky its straight forward. If not you will be cursing for a very long time!!!
