I recently purchased a 1988 300e (240,000 miles) that made a loud metal to metal sound during acceleration. Upon inspection, I noticed that one of tie-rod end bushing was completely gone. Since replacing this, the noise is gone, but when I accelerate from a stop, and sometimes during high speed acceleration, I notice a distinct pull to the left (the tail end of the vehical pulls to the left, but not the right). It seems the more I accelerate, the torque of the engine/drivetrain pulls the tail right.

Should I replace all of the bushings in the rear end to fix this problem...Please let me know what I should look into...Thank you MBers.

I would check all the control arms on the rear of the car including the rear anti roll bar Also check the lower arm where it bolts to the rear hub assembly
