My '91 300sl 's roll bar activated.

Maybe someone can help me? My 1991 300sl's roll bar automatically went up after going over a rough bump in a driveway. I read the manual how to put it down but it did'nt seem to work. Im wondering if Im not doing something right? Then i read if something is wrong with it, it could be very expensive to fix. Is it, welcome to the club or is there a simple solution?
