My ash tray is stuck!

Emptied all the sweet wrappers out of the ash tray today and put the tray thing back in and now i cant close it!!

Its springing open like it should but you can only push it half way in now. Id take a look at it and fix it but ive no idea how to get round the back of it or how to take it out!

Any ideas?

In the bottom right picture, when the long tray is removed, you will see 2 crosshead screws, the ashtray pivots on these two screws, and when the 2 screws are removed the ashtray can be taken out.

As Stuart says, check every thing before you go to the trouble of removing it, you might be missing something very simple.
