My Audio 10 is missing a fader

My Audio 10 cd player, model MF2910, doesn't have a fader. When I scroll through the tone controls, I get bass, treble, bal, TPV. My owner's manual says there is a fader; I know others have a fader control. Anybody know what's wrong? Is this something a dealer can address?

Fader

Audio 10 can be reprogrammed by the dealer for 4 channel setup. Obviously your Audio 10 has been originally installed in the car with front speakers only. Costs ~ £20.

Markku is correct. Cars such as the SL /SLK have only front speakers (also, some older Mercs are 4-channel but with a separate, 2-to-4, fader control) and so for these, the Audio-10 units are programmed without fader.

If like the Blaupunkt units, "reprogramming" may involve changing the DIN connector at the rear from one with 2-channels to one with 4-channels. Two channel mode usually bridges the 2x2 outputs giving twice the power on two channels.

Well, I still don't understand. The radio is putting out four channels of sound. Even though I was getting sound out of all the speakers, I pulled the radio and checked.

Are you saying that at the rear of the radio do you have connections for 4-channels (FL, FR, RL, RR) with 8-wires?

If so, all you need to do is to have the unit reprogrammed to give you the fader option in the menu.
