My bulb must be blew on my light switch how do I

2009 E 350 coupe , just found tonight the illumation back light on my main light swith is not working , That's the bulb showing what position your light switch is in ie , auto , dip , main , fog etc etc.
Any one changed this bulb ( if replaceable at all ) how to access it , what bulb is it etc any help welcome before I start poking around .

No ? But would that not be a bit strange. Get in in its dark ,switch on ign and no backlight to light switch . But every other button lit up even Windows etc etc

Hence the auto function, you get in and start car and lights come on?????

It seems MB have a few strange ideas. My switch isn't back lit, the rotary bit is ... the bit you know what it's doing cos you're holding it, but the icons around the switch aren't.

Some maintain that they are, or they have a bulb holder. I could put my hand out blindfold and touch the switch, My SL and CL do not have a bulb

So can I, but you then have to know the order of the switch positions .... it'd make sense if they were lit

i don't think ive had a MB yet where the position markers in the switch were lit, although to be honest, I cant say ive ever looked either. I just used to turn the switch until I got the desired effect (or left it on Auto setting)

I do the same with the current car and cant tell you if it lights up or not!!!

I've never had newer than 1992, but none have ever been back lit. My dads 70's Mercs were never lit either.

Is it a good idea to be looking at a back lit switch in the dark to see how your lights should be switched on...
I was driving a SAAB the other frosty day and looked in vain for the demister and heated rear window switches. A few of the switches were unreadable as the paint and icons/symbols were worn off... And something told me that those were the ones I needed...

True - even my little Fiat Panda has every position on every switch nicely illuminated.
Not exactly high-tech!

Bit of an oversight on MB's part there. Looking at other switches around the car - the cluster of switches on the door card for instance - they are all beautifully backlit.

My 58 plate C is not backlit. There is a little light to tell you lights are on, thats all.

This lights up when any form of lighting occurs, even the convenience.

My 2016 W213 light position switch is illuminated however the rheostat to control the dash illumination isn't :-(

My W210 and W211 light position switches weren't illuminated

Likewise, but it's facing your right knee ........ along with the tell tale for the rear fogs, it/they would have been better placed somewhere on or around the dash cluster .... like my 451 Smart Fortwo

Need to check but almost sure the rotary but in mine is in darkness
