ok, long story short my car won't start after its been left overnight.

here's the rundown;

1. Insert key
2. Turn key
3. Light come on usually noises
4. Turn key some more
5. Nothing

Merc breakdown has been out to which the guy said it might be these two wires from the front fuse box. So he wiggled them and it started. My car has since done it serveral times since and i wiggles the wires to get it started.

I took the car to a specalist and showed them what i've been doing and they reckon i need a new front SAM. (which is ****** expensive and i don't believe them).

Last week the car failed to start everyday, but today i decided not to open the bonnet and just turn the key till the lights come on and wait with it like that for 5 mins before starting it. And low and behold it starts 1st time.

Now once the car has been started for the day its starts 1st time for the rest of the day.

Help me out guys this is really bugging me and taking a lot of time and money.

Forget the SAM nothing to do with this.
Your car is too new to be having wiring problems though you do seem to having a wiring issue,

So when you put the key in = no lights,no starter.

I put the key in and turn it and get all the wonderful (yea right) lights and noises except no starter.

but if i turn the key to postion 2 and wait 5 mins then try and start it, it does 1st time.

The thing is i think its a glow plug problem but the glow plug light goes off fine and doesn't come back on.

I think that you have a problem with the starter lockout relay if you have a k38 lock out relay the last guy just had a lose connection on it.

Had question, as I said if fitted.. the last 3 cars that had this problem it was a loose connection on this relay. No guarantee that it is your problem

I pressume the starter itself has been checked for a feed etc.

Malc, I "think" that K38 was deleted from 203s

Ok type49 that being the case, the the only way is to put a meter onto the small solenoid contact on the starter and turn the key, no voltage there means either ign switch or alarm or starter relay if fitted.

I did say forget the SAM as nothing to do with this

mechanic reckons the eprom it gettin feedback from the starter which is causin the car to lose it memory. When the cars starts it wouldn't show any faults on the computer. and when it wouldn't start it had no coding. the starters gettin changed along with the wiring to the SAM. fingers crossed
