Mine did the opposite once. Could get the key in and out, just couldn't turn the ignition. After much joggling it freed itself. Have you tried swearing at it?
I've done a lot of swearing at it funnily enough - I've also flooded it with WD40 - the hammer is next (unless it's stolen first) - someone is bound to realise the travel rug over the steering wheel every night is suspicious!
It's time for a new ignition barrel. Order from the dealer and it'll take about 5 days to arrive, keyed to your car. You'll need the V5 and ID to order & collect the barrel
Do not remove the key till the new barrel arrives & is fitted otherwise you're likely not to be able to get it in again. A large bill will then result
