As you may remember I had a P0100 code which usually means a faulty MAF..
The strange thing in my case was that there isnt a hint of "Limp home mode" or any degradation of performance whatsoever!!!
Yet the EML light was constantly smiling at me (EML = Engine Management Light).

I bought a new one and had intended to fit it this weekend.
However last night I noticed the light was no longer lit...

I wont replace the MAF just yet but will wait to see how long the self repair lasts..

Has anyone heard of such a thing before ?

Many a car can turn the lamp on,, and then after a while it goes off again, it only needs some slight contamination on the O2 sensor to turn the lamp on.

This was well known during the contaminated petrol crisis some years back,, with the back log of cars waiting to get the sensor changed, many burnt themselves clean and it was not needed.

It only takes a a little something wrong at the MAF end before the O2 sensor shifts out of its stored position to compensate or to try and correct the fuelling mixture.
Often a hard run on the motorway will put it all back to normal.;)
