my mercedes c220cdi can someone help me

hi there i own a mercedes c2220cdi and i am having major problems this winter when one day when it was realy low outside temp my car wouldnt unlock with the key aftarwards it did after several times of ttying then the ignition barrel wouldnt accept the key would have to leave it in there for over a hour for it to turn and nw it is not unlocking or turning the ignition barrel at all pleease i would be really glad if some can help thanks hope to hear from you thanks again

Hello and welcome,,sadly no easy way to find out what is wrong if this is your only key.

There are 2 parts to the locking part, that is both RF and IR, the ignition does not use these parts

You could change the batteries in the fob to help the locking maybe, but the ignition switch does not use these.

You can check a part of the key by holding it in front of a digital camera, where the IR beam can be seen
