............... has gone through the roof !!!!:D

On Monday I travelled upto Stoke, and managed 50.1MPG ........ I must admit, I was driving like Reginald Bowesworthy ......and never went over 65MPH

But yesterday, gunning around leicestershire, driving "normally" ....I managed 44.3MPG

I have now done 5300miles since taking delivery, on the 30th March
and for the last 10 days, have been dropping 200ml of 2T, in the tank ........... not sure what it's doing, but it's definatley quieter !

On my 220CDi I have seen over 60mpg on the computer. You need to check on a tank-to-tank fill to establish the actual mpg per tank. I have found that the computer is 5-10% optimistic! My mpg is improving at each fill (now have 11000m on the clock)

It is good though to see 60mpg displayed until my wife tells me that she has 75mpg on her trusty Skoda diesel.

I had 62.8 on the 'puter last week - from cold, on a 33 mile journey!
OK, I started from 1500m altitude and the 33 miles was all downhill, on good roads - the remainder of my 500 mile drive to Calais was completed at an average of 58.1 mpg.

youspurs1 - how many miles has your car covered? Mine is improving at each tank fill as the miles goon the clock.

This may be a huge shock for all you diesel owners, I have 230K CLK and I am quiet easily getting 43.5 MPG on a long motorway trip which is quiet shocking when average speed is around 60- 70 on uphill and downhill roads towards Southampton from London on a 70mile trip.

Amo rahal - that is very good, but we diesel owners can see much much more than that on the computer. What are you actually achieving on a tank-to-tank basis? I doubt if you are getting 43mpg overall!!

ermm tank to tank i can get around 450 miles with me being gentle with my right foot on a long motorway journey. Town driving is quiet bad as i only ever get 26 - 30 mpg on average.

so you guys can feel better with your diesels lol.

I am thinking about investing in an CLK55 AMG so not looking forward to the mileage figures to come in near future.

Hi,

I run an E500 and am lucky to see 25MPG overall with reasonably rapid cruising and acceleration, but when I do put my foot down and those horses start to kick in it is worth every penny

I was waiting for a sensible post before I mentioned my 30 mpg going down to the meet in Cornwall.

Thanks to Big Andy i did not do so well on the way home

It's on about 34K
I've done 6K since buying it, with no noticeable improvement in consumption.

E500 Pete - I agree with you. when you get that surge my 220CDi increases consumption but worth every penny!

youspurs 1 - On previous diesel cars I found a continual improvement in consumption up to about 50000 miles when the engine is then run in!! Hopefully my present MB will be the same.

I think the warmer weather helps too.

Can't remember exactly when I got this but it's not unusual
