hi i have a mercedes 310d sprinter 1999. Recently it has had a new turbo fitted. When i recieved the van back it was still smokin white smoke, i was told by the technician that it would clear after about 200 miles. well i have done 200 miles and it is still smokin. on close inspection the manifold has a bad oil leak where one bolt at the front has come out. I cant under stand why it would leak from a manifold bolt. i have had another check made on it and the guy recons that it is using too much oil and its nackered. but i dont think so as it had a oil and filter change and would need topped up i put 750ml in it not quite a ltr. PLEASE can anyone help with advise kindest regards sandy:smile:

White smoke is normally water/steam, blue oil or diesel. They are know to snap or loose bolts from the exhaust manifold, I assume thats what you mean, never had a inlet one go, but could be a first. Anyhow just replace it, stick a screwdriver in and check to see if it's snapped or vibrated out, hopefully it's the later, if so just screw another in and ensure the rest are tight. If it's snapped manifold off and usually they leave a stub, so grab it and try to unscrew it.
Good luck.

Just had a thought, if the turbo was well knacked and pushing oil into the exhaust, this will be full of oil, only way to sort it is to either replace it or remove it and stand it on it's end for a day or so to drain.
