As some of you will know (from Ollies wonderful meet) that I went to MB world on the way home as its kind of on the way and a long long way from where I stay so I'd pop in. Here is what I saw :D

looks the biz there, liked the new E-Class and especially its coupe but the old stuff is the best.

pity they are so scared about showing things they made from the thirties and forties as that would be even more interesting.

Aye its well worth seeing if you are ever in that neck of the woods.

The new E coupe looks really fab in the flesh but the 212 is a bit "drab". Looked a bit plasticy in there too :(

The 600 "Big" is quite a car in reality, massive doesn't do it justice and the Gullwing simply exquisite. It was a real privilidge to be able to see one in the flesh and they are worth every penny of the mad prices they get now.

Great pictures, some fabulous cars there :)

Not keen on the new E coupe tho.The bottom half is very nice, aggressive and angular but the curved roof just doesnt fit the bottom imo

The 124 AMg coupe below is to die for tho, utterly gorgeous in everyway :)

The 36 coupe is immaculate BTW. Pristine example.

I strangely warmed to the AMG 221 S class. Something decadent about a V12 with some turbos attached. I imagined my trip home, the M40 (as its a lawless road) going very swiftly and luxuriously. Then I twigged I'd have to fill it on the way and the 211 at a steadty 85-90 would do 40mpg. The 212 saloon is a far less successful design than the 211 and the coupe now is a real looker (I'd take one looks wise over the CL which is slightly ungainly).

Great photos st.

I went round MBworld in late March, and certainly enjoyed it. Reasonable lunch and plenty to see. Nice to be able to play with the electrics too, since the new cars were plugged into a power supply.

Booked up for a local innkeepers lodge for a few days during the Glasgow fair so me and my two boys will go for a look along with the Brooklands museum.

They also do kids driving experiences and AMG experiences too so you can have heaps of fun. I never went to the Brooklands museum but would have liked to.

On either the way down or the way up (go by the M40, NOT by the M1 as the M40 is miles faster) you can also see the Gaydon Heritage centre which is well worth seeing and a 2 mile detour.

It all depends if I can cut a deal on the new E Class, if no fleet discount then it may well be a 'C' class estate, which means collection from Bremen, a seven hour drive from the museum.

I went there on Monday, very impressed, particularly with the fact that my 5 year old boy could climb in and out of such pricey motors, play with the switches and pretend to drive them, with the very friendly staff just looking on and smiling! Imagine doing that in a main dealers.

Also, this week (half term) they are reducing the AMG passenger experience to £10 for 10 minutes. Not to every grown ups tastes of course, but I can't tell you how exciting in is for a little one to be going sideways around the (large) skid pan oval for one lap, doing a second "skid lap" that includes "perfect" 720's before caning the nuts off an AMG E class on the proper track.

Silver Arrows were cool too, I've been to various Grand Prix and Festival of Speed/Revival and despair at the behaviour of boy racers, but there was something very appealing about the abuse the drivers were handing out to the big mercs, though the waste of rubber made me wince (bought new tyres for mine this week, they must go through a set a day!).

Well worth a look.
