MY2002 W220 boot catch locations

Afternoon all,

So the boot on my W220 is a little sticky, it opens fine on the remote release, but can only get it to half open (first part of catch release) using the key. I've looked at the catch, as in the bit on the body and not on the boot lid and it's not quite centered and level. Does any know what the appropriate settings for positioning it are, worried that if I 'play' with it I'll end up locking myself out of the boot and then major surgery may be needed.
