A few threads on this forum have mentioned MyTyres as a good source for cheap tyres. Having tried to order a set of 4 winter tyres from them last week, I would never use them again.
Because I have recently moved to a new address, which does not appear on whatever directories they use to guard against credit card fraud, they asked me to fax a copy of a utility bill to prove I did indeed live at that address. I have had to do this for other companies since moving, so not really a problem. Next they decided the fax was not good enough and I had to use a bank transfer if I wanted tyres.
They refused to return my calls or answer any of my e-mails instructing them that if paying by credit card was going to be a problem, they should just cancel the order and I would buy the tyres elsewhere, and then sent me an e-mail asking why I had ordered tyres and asked to pay by bank transfer, but not tranfered the money. Frankly, they give the impression no one new what they were doing or even cared.
I have now ordered tyres from ETyres.co.uk, who seem to be a far more friendly and organised outfit. They had no problem accepting my order, and although they were slightly more expensive, they do fit the tyres at your home or work. So all in all, probably worth the extra couple of pounds and MyTyres will never get any business from me again.
