Nearside wingmirror goes into spasms!!

The LH wingmirror on my 01 E320CDi goes into spasms when i select reverse and doesnt return to its correct position although it seems to return ok when adjusted manually.

I've tried to set it up so the automatic "reverse" setting is the same as the normal driving setting but it still seems to wander all over the place when you put the car in reverse, you can also hear the motor pulsing on and off.

Any ideas???

Ive seen an STI recently which mentions this fault new door control module is required to mend, although you car is probably out of warrenty ask the dealer to submitt an ESKU request (good will ) and it should get done without charge
