This has the normally aspirated 1.8 litre (271.921) engine; ie. not the kompressor engine.

The car has failed its MoT and our local dealer who has looked after it for us from new and is normally extremely helpful tells me they will not be available though MB until JULY...!!!

I've searched all the usual places and it seems I can get one for a LHD car but not a RHD one.

Can anyone help me...please?

Hmmm MOT at a dealer perhaps upselling assuming you refer to a MB dealer.

Give it a good run to get it up temp and get it retested elsewhere.

And yes all MB dealers are helpful where there is money to be made.

Tried that...both suggestions...no luck.

Post up the part number if you have it. It makes searching much easier. Also the first 6 numbers of the VIN. Something like 203730

That's interesting.
The 271 engine cat you see there is the one I 'think' fits the SLK R171 with a 271 engine...which I have.
Must go out tomorrow and have a look!
I wondered if they were the same but it seems not.
Searching for the C160 with a 271 engine throws up the alternative style.
The part number I'm searching for is that given to me by the local main dealer who presently have the car.
That's the part they have said I should get...if I can!
I've already sent them an image of it and asked them to confirm what it looks like so I'll wait and see before flashing my card.
Thanks ever so much anyway for your input so far...as I said I'll update this thread when I have more information.

Hmm interesting. Looks like there's a few variations.

Just realised I neglected to update this thread...apologies!
Failed to source what I really wanted but a local exhaust specialist made up a new section with a Cat in it for a reasonable price.
My local MB dealership even drove the car up there on trade plates and brought it back as by then it had no Tax or MoT.
Passed it's test so all is well again...except for the lock-down that's preventing herself going anywhere in it.
Never mind it's giving me an opportunity to refurbish the rear suspension on the SLK.
