Give Ivan a call at Automerc in Wood Green / Hornsey. His chaps looked after my old 250TD for about 4 years and I was always happy with their work. They may be able to collect & deliver too
I totally recommend Simon and Stacy and have been using them last 4 years. They are the sort of guys you dont even need to discuss prices with before they work on your car as you know they charge fairly and do a great job. 01279 876979.
I recently took my car to Automerc following a B service by my local Merc dealer.
The dealership gave me a list, as long as my arm, of things that need to be sorted to the cost of just short of £3K. Well I thought I'd better get a second opinion and went to Automerc. Automerc spotted all things things the stealership did and deemed most of the work unnecessary at the moment. Automerc even spotted things that the stealership didn't such as a dodgy front nearside tyre where the structure of the tyre was detiorating. A perfect candidate for a high speed blowout. The bulb that illuminates the temperature digits on the control panel had blown. Stealership told me that I would need to replace the console to the cost of £600 +VAT + Labour. Automerc replaced the bulb to the cost of about £37, all in.
I could go on. At Automerc they don't have a plush waiting room or a free beverages vending machine. But I was treated with the exceptional of courtesy and respect that all good establishments should demonstrate.
When the mechanics finished working on my chariot I was invited into the workshop to look at the work they had done (I have never had that experience before). They showed me the old bits they took off, showed me the new bits they put on and explained what had to be done.
The whole experience cost less than a third of the stealership's quote and the chariot was valeted at no extra cost.
All in all I'm one very happy chappy. I got my car sorted at a much reduced cost and it was gleaming shiny.
Anyone in the North London area with a sick Merc. phone 020 8340 2966 and pour your heart out (car issues only) to Nick or Ivan.
Thanks to Nick Froome for a spot-on recommendation.
