Need a Part

Hi Guys

I've got a 1993 320CE cabriolet and the roof is not working. Apparently it needs a new cylinder ram, part number A1248000072. There are non in the UK and I have been quoted £515.00 + to get it from Germany. Does this seem reasonable 'cos it seems very expensive to me. Any options apart from not using the roof again ?

I wonder if someone rebuilds them, is it a hydraulic fault or electric do you know

Hi

Well I'm told that the cylinder is leaking badly and so there is no pressure in the system. But the garage admits that they don't know whether this is the cause of the roof not working but it has to be replaced as the first step. I was wondering whether there are any breakers yards that might have a spare part or, as you say, if it can be repaired.
I was actually quoted £85 for the part yesterday but it went up to £515 today, maybe they have to make it ?
