i have a 420SEL W126 it went in to the body shop for some paint work the car was working fine when i dropped it off to the garage but when i came to pick it up when the car is started it revs up to 2000 rpm and its stuck on there doesn't come down. I took off the air cleaner housing and had a look at the control valve gave that a blast with wd40 but the problem is still there i then took a volt meter and checked the reding to the control valve there is nothing there so i seem to think there is a fuse gone or something but i have checked all the fuses under the bonnet they seem to be ok has anyone got any idea;s please where next to start looking.

Many Thanks

Our friends in Moscow suggest 1988.

Shame, as I'd pay good money for a W126 registered next month!

First remove the air cleaner and check that the air flow plate is closing,if it is the you need to check the the idle switch is working situated on the side of the throttle body housing,,at idle the contacts should measure zero ohms
