need help new member

Hi ladies & Gents
Im new at this but i wonder if someone could help me my wife has a 51reg CLK 200 kompressor and at the begining of last week the bas/esp light came on and the car lost power and once you switch it off and restart it it goes out and its fine but its happenend a few times since so after getting the garage to check it ive been advised its the timimg soleniod leaking into the wiring loom and triggering sensors, this is apparently a common fault and is at a cost of £800 and being new to Mercs i wondered if this is the case or im being ripped off

sounds like you are being ripped off. the leaking camshaft adjuster will leak oil into the engine wiring harness but this would bring on the engine warning light and a fault indicating the lambda sensor, not the bas/esp light.
