Okay I have just about had it with Mercedes. I have owned 6 MB and it seems that the quality is slowly going to sh*t in my opinion. I just got home and cannot get my parking lights to turn off. WTH?? I am sorry but I am really frustrated at this point. Please refer to this thread
http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t=23469&highlight=doors+lock
Could there be a possible connection? I have an appt. to get the above problem fixed because my husband could not remedy the situation himself.
In the meantime, what do I do about the parking light situation??? It is going to eventually run my battery down. My husband is not at home. What do I do?:???:

Pull the fuse for those lights, or disconnect the battery and reconnect it. See if that clears the problem.

Your problem is an extention of the first problem

Water has got into the rear SAM unit, this is the module that controls all of the lighting on the car,and is the same one that controls the locking.

With all of the rain about things have got worse, had the water mod been done this fault would not have come up.

I think that the battery should be disconnected as there are many fuses for the rear sam module, the module is the SAM signal aquasistion module that remains live all of the time.

Nowt like folk, this lady was stuck last night, people offer advice, I for one sat here waiting, then she just goes to bed without bothering to answer.

Anyway I hope anyony reading this understands that if you have a water leak on a SLK,CLK or SL in the boot you either fix it or keep the car dry.

The cure for this car was posted mid Dec, and it has rained everday sinse

Considering we are in the grips of a drought (apparently) with hose pipe bans still in place across the South East you should not experince these problems if you live in the South East of the country, only the less important bits ;), in which case it serves you right.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS WAS MEANT AS A JOKE BEFORE WE GET BACK INTO THE WHOLE NORTH-SOUTH THING AGAIN.

I was having server problems last night that made it unable for me to access being online until now. It surely was not because I did not wish to come back online. My hubby is on a business trip and I wanted to log back on for more help because I have a mess now. Thank goodness he is coming back home today. It apparently is connected to the first problem. I pulled out all the fuses and the light remained on until I pulled a main fuse under the hood. It was dark and I am definitely not a mechanic . Needless to say I was having a tough time.

You're quote is harsh. Maybe you should reserve you're comments until you understand why I did not log back online. Do you normally make comments like this or is it because I am a woman on a male dominated forum? That is really sad.

We have had massive amounts of rain in my area of NC. When this happens , for whatever reason it affects at times my ability to log online.

I do want to add that I am grateful for all the help/suggestions that have been given ;)

I would have never even known there was a modification kit that needed to be installed had it not been for this forum. :)

Somehow you do have to try and keep the car out of the rain if you can, there is a good chance that it could all dry out and return to normal. though most of the components are water froof in themselves,it is the connectors that are not, rubber boots would have helped. As they are, water gets in between the pins. Unpluging them all, or what you can see, could help them to dry out.

My SL with known water in boot problems did not cope very well over the new year. Even the M1 had a 30mph limit through the flooding.

Thank you. I will be retiring it to the garage. I don't think I will be driving it anymore until I take it in to the dealership. I think my husband is going to post a question tonight regarding the problem. He tried to relay what he wanted me to ask over the phone but I am illiterate when it comes to car mechanics:confused: I will just let him ask:)

Hi Christine. Don't take offence by Myros's remarks. We have quite a few people that come onto the forum and post "Urgent" requests and then never come back. Seems to happening more often recently.

There are, incidentally, a few very helpful ladies in the forum too (although Hannah seems to have vanished over the Christmas holidays:confused: )

Always nice to have a new memember.

Hi Folks,

Malcolm... you mention that a fix was posted mid December for the rear SAM problem... any chance you could steer me in the direction of the post?

Cheers
