Hi,
I have a 1991 190E and Im trying to wire a MOSS Central Locking device to it so the doors open with the alarm.

I have found the Wires going to the Central locking and their is -

a Brown wire
a Green Wire
a Red and White wire

What I need to know is, which one is the +12 Volt Lock OPEN supply, the Grounded CLOSE supply and which one is the Common

Thanks

I need to know where in the car you are working and where these wires are.

Lift the back seat out and at the drivers side you will see a foam compartment with the central locking vacuum pump inside there is are two plugs on the pump with wires look for the flat plug with the three wires going to into it, red/white brown & yellow. The two wires that come from you alarm system connects there. Cut the yellow coloured wire put one coming from the alarm to one side of the cut wire and the other to the other end.

the Moss has 4 Wires to connect

2 connect to the common (One to the Door side, One to the CL Pump Side)

the 2 common wires connect to +.the other two wires connect one wire to one side of the cut wire the other to the other side of the cut wire that is the way my alarm operates the centrl locking

You have a round plug with three wires on it also at the pump blue yellow green these operate from boot, passenger door and drivers door locks. these are located at pump also

right, so the green in mine must be the common.

So which one will be the Door Open and Door Close wire hhmmm

Brown is usually live but so is red, but when you think of it, this is Red/White (Not Solid Red)... I think I will just cross my fingers and go -

Brown as Door lock Open
Red/White as Door lock Close

:)

Why not get a test light or a meter and check the wires one end of the test light or meter to earth the other onto the wires that plugs into the pump and check for the live wire

ok, tested with a Meter,

Brown = 0 Volts
Green = 9 Volts
Red/White = 12 Volts

so Now im going with -

Green Common
Red/White Open
Brown Close

will try that :)

cable colour codes (also electronic)

There is no fixed pattern as to what is live, Black is normally used where possible for ground cables, the main colour is known as that and the thin line colour is called a tracer. the abridged codes are

Black BK
Brown BR
Red R
Yellow Y
Green GR
Blue BE
Violet V
Grey GY
White W
Purple P
Pink PK
