Hello Forum.

I need to change the car in the next 2 months and I was actually thinking to buy a Mercedes as I know they are reliable cars and good engines.

Now , I was thinking to buy a Diesel engine with 200hp+ from 2002 up.
I was looking at the S and E series.
As I get older I need some comfort like electric seats , climate control , automatic gearbox.

Do you guys have any tips to give for a guy that wanna buy a Mercedes ?
Known issues with this models ? Any things I should be aware of ?
What are the standard options on the E class and what are the standard options on the S class ? Any links I should read ?

Thank you in advance and hopefully you will gain a new satisfied member in short time.

The only diesel over 200bhp is the 320cdi. S or E is down to preference. The S is bigger, more comfortable and better equipped though. That said, it's too big for me but horses for courses. I don't know the spec of the S aside from that it's generous so I'll leave that to the others.
The E320cdi comes in avantgarde and elegance trim. The ag is sporty and has xenon lights, the elegance is your luxury model. In terms of toys, basic electric seats are std, but full electric with memory were extra. Basic climate std but 4 zone digital extra, Auto is std on the 320 though, as is parameter (speed sensitive) steering.
As the 320 is the top of the range, many will be well specced and may have command and pre-wired phones which are nice to haves and clearly heated leather is a must by most accounts.
Have a look at the price list on the MB site. Specs haven't changed much and it gives a good idea on standard kit.

There isn't much to be concerned about. We have an 02/3 and an 04 E class and both have been trouble free. There were issues with a few early ones but these were primarily software related and should have been fixed with updates. Be warned though. It was a major new model and the initial testing wasn't the best so there were a few real dogs about and MB even bought a few cars back. Most were fine but if you buy from the dealer ask for a print out of warranty work done to ensure you aren't buying a lemon.

Will look over the info and I'm waiting other comments also.

2019 AMG S Class Coupe
Rated torque (Nm at rpm)- (540/1600-2400)

From the MB site......seems like plenty :) (This is the latest model, though earlier should be similar)

I love the E Class, and will certainly have another one. Try to get one with all the toys if possible (or as many as you can if not)

COMAND is well worth having, as are the comfort (heated & ventilated) seats. Distronic is another bonus, and Parktronic essential (not sure if the latter is standard, don't think so though)

Parktronic was an extra, I made sure that I got all of the toys, they are around. Do ignore the MB adverts, they tend to include every standard feature as an extra.
I do not know where you are based, but in places like MB Hemel Hempsted the secondhand clearing house, they have all of the old sales books, with one of these you will soon learn what all of the goodies are, and that cars with them all do not cost much more,if any.
