I need to replace the pipe from the fuel feed pump to the shutoff valve (currently have a temporary repair in place), just wondering how I get fuel into the valve end of the pipe, or come to think of it the whole pipe.

When I fixed (bodged) it, I turned the engine over about 3 times before it primed itself, what I can't work out is how to get fuel up to the shutoff valve which is on a cul de sac, as I assume it won't self prime when I turn the engine over.

Anyone done this before?

if you have the fuel filter full of diesel the pipe should fill up fairly quickly

the car is running ok so fuel filter is full so that's not the problem. There's another pipe which runs up onto the top of the engine & ends at a valve, what I'm wondering is how to get fuel upto that point as there is no flow in that direction, it's just a dead end, with the valve thingy. (At the moment I don't have this part on there as I managed to crack the T shaped pipe that it joins to, so have removed it & made a temporary repair to the broken union, it's the replacement pipe I have to fit)

no 35

start at the bottom & follow the pipe upwards to the T junction, turn right & follow it to the end at the valve, part 49 (this is the pipe which I broke off & have in the back of the car to fiddle with that before doing anything, I assume the end opens up somehow to attach a testing device)

what I have done is to plug the hole where I broke the pipe off with a piece of tubing & jubilee clip (was putting new thermostat in & squeezed past the pipe, in the process I heard a 'click' as the said pipe cracked, of course I would do it in a different way now, you live & learn.
