hi im new to the forum and i need some info quickly on wheels

i work for Motor World and the guides we have in the shop say that 19" wheels will fit on a C Class without modifications to the arches

a customer has just ordered some 19" alloys for his Merc C240 and just before they were sent out the wheel supplier has rang us saying they will not fit the car without mods

ive been searching online all night and it seems that 18's are about the biggest that will fit and even those will make it a hard ride, with 17's being better

tomorrow ive got to ring the customer and try and sort something out with him so i need to know by morning what the deal is with alloys on this car

id rather use a forum like this than the guides we have at the shop, as nothing beats something like this, tons of users with real world experience with what fits and what doesnt, ive got a Renault and use 2 Clio forums on a regular basis for suh advice on my own car

The only mod that I am aware of is that the front edge of the wheel arch at the front bottom, need rolling in, or bending in. these are MB instructions

I don't quite understand this. Surely you have to maintain the overall diameter to factory spec, so increase the wheel diameter and decrease the sidewall depth accordingly. Otherwise, wouldn't the speedo, and ESP will be out of sync?

I cant answer that directly, the only info I have says, when fitting larger wheels the bottom of the wheel arch needs folding in, There are no sizes stated. As Jberks says the overall diameter must stay somewhere near the original, the off set is important, but your wheel supplier should have that.

we have now sorted the issues out with the supplier

basically they were about to send us a wheel which had the wrong offset for the vehicle

they have now found the wheel in the correct offset so were now sorted

the size of the wheel will be a 235/35/19 which is near as possible to the size fitted at the moment

I think 225/35/19 are closer to the original size.
