New 2 MB- Just Purchased My 1st Merc and Help Needed

Hi All. Hello to Everyone.
Im new to to Merc World and have just purchased a C200K Evo 3door -2001. I had the AA check the car before prior to puchase costing £162. Car has been fine for 2weeks and now the Engine management light has come on, but also shows no malfunction, still drives Excellent. A freind of my had a quick look with his diagnostic machine and says it something to do airflow, is this serious.?
Also is it worth buying one of these machine to read the error codes?

Your lamp on will mean either the O2 sensor has changed or the MAF filter may be on the way out, nothing terrible, just something has changed

Check the loom for oil contamination throgh the cam actuator on the front of the engine. Very common on your engine. A modified loom is available. It has been discussed here before.
