that’s life!

Yes I’ve got the merc me app.... it’s having its service tomorrow (at a different Mercedes-Benz dealership, as I cannot be arsed to drive 2hrs!)
I’ve not made them aware this issue has happened again yet (it happened yesterday) I was going to call them when I’ve the metal strength!

I rec'd a copy of the historical service records with my car when bought in Aug last Year and an updated copy from an MB Dealership when requested after Servicing in March this Year so there must be clear MB policy to provide, perhaps you just need to request a copy? I would be most surprised if they refused and would most certainly not let it rest there if they did. keeping service records electronically is fine but you as a consumer should keep your own records as well.

Mercland update this at every service and provide me with a hardcopy, sounds like you have to ask at a franchised dealer

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and came across it trying to resolve my issue with ad blue.
What I found out and might be helpful to others is that after you'll get your "refill ad blue" message and you top up your ad blue level is super important to perform ad blue reset. You won't find that in mb manual cause, in my case at least, ad blue running out coincidence with service intervals and they're topping it while performing the service and as blue reset.
In pre 2014 models it's the ignition on/pressing accelerator procedure. In models after 2015 when you top up your ad blue you need to

Ignition on/don't start the engine,
Wait 30sec
Ignition off
Lock the car to close electric circuits

That should be it. It's super important because if you just start driving after filling up the ad blue and the sensor won't reset itself, specially if you do long distance it will mess up your ad blue sensor and that will lead to nox sensor malfunction. I've learned it the hard way and had to replace nox sensor within first 15k miles. Hope this helps

Hi! How funny, I actually had someone do this... still didn’t work. Only difference is I didn’t top up the AdBlue as it was already full! Honestly this car was the worse car I’ve ever had! It would never give any pre warnings, the Engine light would come on and 10mins later it would flash up ‘car won’t start after 500miles’. And when you went to view the adblue level on the screen it said unable to read.... the car was a 2017 model and this happened over 10 times in the space of two years! and mercedes were hopeless, everytime it went in it would be a promise that it was ‘all sorted’.... I ended up selling it last year as I travel abroad a lot and it was just not reliable (it happened twice in France and once in Spain and all occasions cost me an over night stay while it had to go into the nearest dealership ) and mercedes Benz never reimbursed my costs

However...I still got another mercedes and (touch wood) this ones been fine!

That's a shame you had to go to the extent of selling it!
What's your other Mercedes then?

Same thing happened to me. I've got 2019 gls 350d and problems started within first 10k miles. First they've reset the ad blue level sensor and then some 5k miles later replaced nox sensor. Now every time I top up ad blue I make sure I'll do the reset and I haven't got any problems since (touch wood).
Shame mb doesn't mention how important the reset is. They just assume that it will be while tge canr is in service (with them of course) so they can perform the reset themselves.

I’m not impressed with the service you get at mercedes anymore, I was getting sick of explaining the problem to a 20’something year old everytime it happened for them to say ‘are you sure the Adblue is full . And then ‘oh it’s just the nox sensor Needing replacing so it’s all fine now....

Mine happened first time at about 1500k, was told it was the nox sensor, then it happened another 9 times with no real rhyme or reason, one time it happened again a week after being fixed another time I had a whole 3 months of it being ok! the Nox sensors were replaced 6 or 7 times (you’d think 1. Mercedes would see from the warranty how many times, and also 2. When I’d tell the service that it was the 3rd,4th 5th time etc that they’d think something wasn’t quite right). Replaced a few other things too, the thing that injects the adblue in, the measurement thing in the adblue tank..... even the receptionist at mercedes would say to me ‘oh god it’s not happened again?!? ‘.

it was almost enough to make me go buy a bmw!! ......

I’ve had my new one 6 months now so, so far so good

Fingers crossed it'll stay like that. MBUK is really poor when it comes to after care. I only found out about importance of resetting ad blue sensor when I serviced my other mercedes in Pichler garage in Gstaad, Switzerland which is MB authorized dealership. Their service and after care is soooooo much better and personalized than anything that MBUK has to offer. It seems like MBUK wants to grab your money from the sale and then you're on your own

I'm now going in this week for the seventh time in 3 years (car bought from new). Never again will I purchase a Mercedes after not only the same issue reoccurring but the incompetence of the dealership and the lies they've told me. My PCP is up in April next year but I'm looking for a new replacement now.

Hi!...
Wow, in a way I’m pleased I’m not the only one! I absolutely agree with you, I’d brought mine from new and the dealership had no interest.... the fault that happened 9 times would always happen in exactly the same way each time (as I’d explain to them EVERY time I’d have to take it in!). I felt like because it was under warranty they didn’t really care or want to solve it! Twice it happened when I was driving through france , so cost me a couple nights stay as the Mercedes dealership had to wait for the part... a couple of occasions I was asked if I’d run out of adblue!! Nooooo!!
With mine it would be a case of Engine management light would come on , 10mins later I’d get the Alert pop up ‘adblue check manual’ then 10mins after that night start after 500miles...

it caused me so much stress, every time the car pinged or made any noise my heart would stop as I thought it was adblue.. again!

i started looking at Audi’s .... I did end up getting another mercedes, 6 months on it’s been fine . If it ever happened again I’d NEVER get a mercedes!

Tony, If I was you write a letter to MB UK (Milton Keynes with all the information you have), they will then call the dealer. Dealers getting calls from MBUK is a big wrist slapping.
