Yeah, received my new Bosch Battery today as the one in there was in the car when I bought it but it really wasn't the correct one anyway and was having to be charged every few days.
But I was quite apprehensive as I heard of horror stories of things going array afterwards. So I bought a Gunson Battery Saver, but was still nervous. It's the type whereby you plug it into the mains and then attach the crocodile clips to a permanent Live on the car and an Earth, and then change the Battery. The car never notices that the battery has been removed so no resetting etc.....
It worked thank goodness!
You carry out all sorts of things and then something as simple as changing a Battery freaks you out! Crazy!

The only thing you need to be careful of is letting the battery +ve lead tough the bodywork... you're eyes are telling you that the battery is disconnected so it's not an issue, your brain might not remember that you've connected a permanent supply to keep all the settings, so it is an issue

Don't worry I was extremely mindful of that as the Positive Terminal is only an inch away so it was out with the Socket and in with the the open-ended!

I used to have a Karmann Ghia and the Battery was right next to one of the Carbs! And we all know how Carbs can leak a bit!!! I think they were those leaky Solex ones...

I was quite chuffed with the price, £99.10 delivered!

I changed my battery, which is in the boot by connecting a normal battery charger to the leads while I disconnected them and reconnected. Kept every setting including radio stations. Just need a bit of care to keep the positive lead away from any exposed bodywork.

The Money Pit's battery was disconnected for over a month and once reconnected everything was still available, a bit of a laugh though watching the clock hands catch up on time :D
