Do you have a Costco or Macro near you

Try GSF they sell 88amp Bosch for £62-£69 they may have a 100 amp you also have your local motor factors to try

I know people have been a bit disparaging of Halfords products, and I'm not a big fan of all these 'own brands'. However I fitted a new Halfords battery in our RX7 on 9th Sept, 2001, and it's good for the foreseeable. It's perhaps the one Halfords product I'd run straight back to store for a repeat prescription.

Hi,
Not that I am suggesting that merc prices are acceptable, but I understand that the reason for the cost is because they are gel batteries.
So what ever you buy make sure it is compatible.
(my dad has an s500, and we purchased a new battery from costco. This worked, but it was not a gel battery)
Regards
Suki

Hi,
I may be wrong but gel or acid won,t make any difference to the battery performance as long as their the same spec as the one that came off.
Got gel battery on my motor bike, when i asked the dealer he said it was gel because the battery is mounted at approx. 30-45 degrees from the horizontal plane and the gel would,nt spill like the acid version would.
Personally i would try ECP and get a Bosch from them.

The Bosch from ECP with VAT and delivery works out more expensive than MB.

I would suggest that the CCA's ( Cold cranking amps ) is a relevant consideration to take into account. This information is usually located on the top of the battery over here. I would suggest that you should aim for 550 CCA's for a machine like yours especially with your cold winters . The CCa's indicate the number of amps the battery can deliver (hence the number of times it can crank over the motor) from a cold start.
Over here you can purchase an Exide Battery in the Evolution range with a replacement warranty of three years .for $164.00 AUS. it even has a clear view port which will let you know the condition of the battery at a glance. There are different colours observed through the port for good condition and poor condition.

Hi,
They also do a 'Lion' brand battery which i think has a 3 year warranty.
Mail order how much did they want P&P? I also thought that if you bought a battery Mail order it came dry charged as transporting acid wether in a battery or container was illegal probably completely wrong.

Could,nt find your car listed but this one shown is for a w202 C43 similar specs for yours i suspect looks good quality and is sealed for life and 3 years warranty.

Cold cranking amps (CCA), better rating than AH.

Gel batteries are expensive, 35degree mounting is an issue with the CL500. Also Gel (asorbed matt batteries) need a differing type of bench charger.

We have hunted for battery for CL500 for customer. He went for Merc one in the end.

Oh.... Halfords will do trade discount. It up to the store managers discretion. Its not a flat rate discount. But its very high on filters, and they are open on a Sunday.

Hello!

Sorry but i think £129 is very good for a battery. I payed £165 for my Bosch battery & think that that is not bad either. maybe it's me? LOL!

S class
Halfords batteries were always ultra expensive.. euro car parts do a lion 100 amp for £85.00 .. the gel batteries are really a safety feature.. but in general all batteries have almost doubled in price since last year, and again china is blamed for buying up all the lead
