If I remember correctly Aston were selling record amounts of cars in the last few years, so I don't think they are struggling with sales

I was doing some reading into this, technically, concept car.

The guy who pushed it through the Bentley board is the same guy who overcame much adversity to force the Cayenne through Porche. It is now their most successful model in their range on a year by year basis selling in the region of 50,000 units.

I had this discussion with my mate the other night, he loves Lotus and is not happy with their new design philosophy and heavy cars. Simply if you want your favourite brand to survive it has to follow the market. So when this SUV hits the road in 2014 it will be joined by an Aston (Lagonda) and a Lambo equivalent.

I agree, its a shame that car companies do this but I don't want to live in a world of Range Rooneys, Focus's's's and Insignia's.

Well the ones where i used to live would spend half their lives stressing over their 60-70 hours a week job and the other half stressing over whether their cars were new/posh enough/kids were at a good enough private school (despite the local government ones being the best in the country) and generally how to waste their money to keep ahead of others (women watering the flowers in designer outfits!)

They were kind enough to make suggestions to my parents as to when they should buy a new car or what the latest designer gimmick was, even though my parents retired at 50 and, unlike them, actually owned their house (not on a 90% mortgage).

I think i'd rather have a meaningful life of relative poverty but enjoyment rather than a new Bentley 4x4 on the drive and the other nouveu riche accoutrements...

Yes, I'm afraid I do judge everyone...by the depth of their characters and whether they have interesting things to say or not.

When people used to come up to me and ask me "why i drive a 15yr old tatty car when i was an accountant and should be able to drive better" and "why i'm mowing a lawn with an old mower" and then proceed to tell me about their material possessions and their brand new cars and list out all the features as to why they are better than the old ones I judge them as boring shallow people who are not worth wasting time on.

I don't judge people by their wealth, material possessions, etc. I am friends with hippies who have never earnt nor spent more than €100 a month in their lives and also some very rich people...I would also say that the poorer people I know tend to be much happier as they don't spend their lives worrying about stuff they don't need and hence would not want to live the life of a (typical) nouveau riche stereotype...

If that says something bad about me i don't know what?

I will tell you this, some of the wealthier people I know DO drive around in tatty old cars. After all, you don't get 'rich' by spending your money.

Isn' it about reducing the average CO2 emissions across the range, so AM can continue to build REAL cars?
