New C Class controls help please

Dear All

I took delivery yesterday of a new company car:

C class C220cdi avantgarde.

After reading the hand books at length I still have a couple of queries if someone could help please:

Q1 How do I make the comand announcements louder? (I have set the radio volume reduction on the screen settings to max but would like to have the actual speech louder if possible).

Q2 How do I change the digital Speedo in the small square display on the dash to mph, at the moment it always reads km/h? (I have set the miles settings on the comand and the fuel computer etc. The handbook seems to state that this speedo should always be set to mph already).

Q3 The parking break seems to need a lot of force to set it is this normal or should this need an adjustment?

Otherwise I am suitably chuffed. Thanks in advance for any help you can give

Q1 you can do it but I cant remember how

Q2 You cannot change this on UK models. You also cannot get the Km figures to be larger when you drive on the continent, Daft I think.

Q3 the parking brake on mine eased in after a few weeks.

To turn up the volume of the spoken directions, turn the volume control up whilst the instructions are being given. This level will then be remembered. Best way to do this is to press the repeat instruction button and then turn the volume up. Took me a while to find this!

...and the a/c is off when its light is on, whereas Auto is on when its light is on!

Thanks for the advice it worked OK.

The kids are happy now they can hear ?the nice lady?.
A perfect woman I think as she says more to me than the wife, is more pleasant and she can read a map!

Pity about being unable to change the Speedo. This seems stupid on a UK car. This would have been useful as I sit up so high with the seat down and the steering wheel like a bus driver?s I still have trouble seeing the top of the Speedo dial. Guess I?ll have to convert from km/h

After converting from BMW I am also finding that most of the switches on this car seem to work in the negative sense as well.
