Not read / heard of any reports to that effect.

BTW my 203 doesn't drift left, never has.

None at the monent, but there's an OM642 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee!
Not sure about the model referred to, but I've found that some cars have a natural tendency to 'fall down' the road camber - particularly if wearing fairly wide tyres.

Cars that 'wander left' (in the UK) will often wander right when driven on the opposite side of the road....

S80,

The old C-class (one that just expired) had a nasty habit of drifting leftwards, which the dealers explained as the car being "camber-sensitive". In fact, it was camber-sensitive to exactly the same degree that lobsters are "hot-water-sensitive", most of us owners found.

So, just wondering if the new C-class is displaying the same tendency ? I asked at MB a couple of weeks ago, but of course their answer was that customers were nothing less than delighted. Right ! Just like the lobsters with their new red colour, eh ?

It's certainly the first thing I'll be looking for if/when I drive one.

My W203 went for MOT the other day and I asked them to consider if the left drift needed attention. They couldn't find any fault, yet cheerfully gave an advisory that the outside edge of the NSF tyre was worn (the rest of tyre was at 4mm). "Why has that happened, if the alignment is fine"? I asked. They shrugged.

I've had exactly the same NSF outer edge wear for the last 31k miles, Rory. MB claim it's normal. Even Etyres said that it was normal, for a Merc that is. C'est la vie.

A four-wheel alignment last year made the car handle better, but did nothing to cure the left drift.

Don't think I'll be swapping for the new C-class though, as the newer reviews online are presenting a picture which no longer has the "full rose-tint" of the very first reviews. It'll either be a BMW 5-series or perhaps the new Audi A4 for me, next time.

Thanks for that. I've read horror stories about the handling being messed when the alignment is done so for that reason alone I didn't push them to do it.

I think they would be my choices too, although Audi must be a bit disappointed that one review said it doesn't handle as well a Mondeo!

I tried to buy a 5 Series when I got my MB but the dealers didn't want to talk to me. Odd really, I'm a sober looking 40 something company director and I had an effectively unlimited budget burning a hole in my pocket.

Exact opposite here, had BM dealers all over me like a rash giving me 535's or 730's for weekends at a time. Derek awful cars though, still better than a Skoda I suppose.

Rory, a little surprised by that. However, I am also a profoundly late-30's "suit", and the experience in my local MB dealer in Brentford (west London) is no different. I swear to god that you could have a cardiac arrest in the middle of the showroom, and not one of the sales staff would even bother to look up from their computers.

So why did the inner edge of ALL 4 of my tyres wear out at the same time!!??
Outer edge and centres still look ok. Sadly, all the inner edges are as bald as I am!

That's funny, but oh so so true.
Reminds me of when I (at the age of 31) went into the MB dealer with view to buying a C-class. When someone did actually acknowledge I was there and I wasn't a child that had been left unsupervised by his parents, the salesman approached and pre-judging me said something along the lines of 'Are you alright there, how can I help you? Is it the Smart range you're interested in!!!'

By the way, I didn't buy my car from him! Funny that!!

)

I don't know - do you only drive along the crown of the road! Maybe if you'd noticed you could have taken them off the rims and reversed them!!

Was this on the cheaper tyres you just had - have previous tyres worn the same?
